The Best Available Evidence Overwhelmingly Contradicts The Notion That Vaccines Cause Autism
Large-scale studies involving thousands of participants in several countries have failed to establish a link between the MMR vaccine and the mental developmental disorder.
Most recently, the journal Jama looked at nearly 100,000 children who got the shot and their family histories of autism. They found the MMR vaccine was not associated with an increased risk of autism, even with children who had older siblings with the disorder. “These findings indicate no harmful association between MMR vaccine receipt and ASD even among children already at higher risk for ASD,” the researchers concluded. In another of the most thorough studies to date, nearly half a million kids who got the vaccine were compared with some 100,000 who didn’t, and there were no differences in the autism rates between the two groups. “This study provides strong evidence against the hypothesis that MMR vaccination causes autism,” the authors wrote in the New England Journal of Medicine.Studies published in The Lancet, The Journal of Pediatric Infectious Diseases, PLOS One, and The Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders, among others,have also found no association between the vaccine and autism.
Autism Research Bill Signed Into Law By President Donald Trump
The Autism CARES Act, a bill which was co-sponsored by a New Jersey lawmaker, was signed into law Monday by President Donald Trump.
The Autism Collaboration, Accountability, Research, Education and Support Act provides $1.8 billion in funding for autism programs at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Institutes of Health and Health Resources and Services Administration.
The bill was sponsored by Rep. Chris Smith, R-Mercer, and Rep. Mike Doyle, D-Pa. The bill was authored by Sen. Bob Menendez.
The Autism CARES Act recognizes the problem of aging out and ensures that the federal government continues to help hundreds of thousands of young adults with autism and their parents by funding research and support programs, Smith said in a statement. “Aging out of services is a hurdle every parent or caretaker of a child with autism inevitably faces.
In New Jersey, one in every 34 children are diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, the CDC reported.
Smith has worked on issues related to autism since 1997, when parents Bobbie and Billy Gallagher from Brick spoke with him about whether the government was addressing the issue.

U.S. President Donald Trumps close aides have described Trumps seemingly off-the-cuff and spur-of-the-moment behaviour as defiance disorder, according to a new book detailing a behind-the-scenes look at the workings of the inner White House.
A new tell-all book, titled Media Madness: Donald Trump, the Press, and the War over the Truth, was written by long-time Washington Post columnist Howard Kurtz, is expected to hit store shelves next week. The book depicts the presidents animosity with the press and how his close advisers are sent scrambling after Trump hammers out an unexpected tweet.
According to excerpts obtained by the Post, Trumps aides have been blindsided at times when the president fires off an early morning tweet and that he seems to have a knack for doing what his advisers urge him not to do, the Post reported, leaving it to them to handle the aftermath. Those aides have dubbed this behaviour as a defiance disorder.
According to excerpts as reported by the newspaper, Kurtz alleges in his book that Trumps aides were confused when he took to Twitter on a Saturday to accuse former president Barack Obama of wiretapping him during the election campaign.
Nobody in the White House quite knew what to do, Kurtz writes, according to the Post.
Reince Priebus, who was Trumps chief of staff at the time, had to handle the fallout.

Wakefield Has Refused To Replicate The Paper’s Findings
At the very bedrock of science is the concept of falsification: a scientist runs a test, gathers his findings, and tries to disprove himself by replicating his experiment in other contexts. Only when that’s done can he know that his findings were true.

Wakefield has never done this. As the editor of the BMJ points out, “Wakefield has been given ample opportunity either to replicate the paper’s findings, or to say he was mistaken. He has declined to do either.” In 2004, 10 of his co-authors on the original paper retracted it, but Wakefield didn’t join them, and he has since continued to push his views, including doing the rounds on the anti-vaxxer speakers’ circuit and publishing books.Wakefield’s own website portrays him as an embattled hero: “In the pursuit of possible links between childhood vaccines, intestinal inflammation, and neurologic injury in children, Dr. Wakefield lost his job in the Department of Medicine at Londons Royal Free Hospital, his country, his career, and his medical license.” Wakefield even tried to suethe BMJ and Deer, suggesting they were going after him in some sort of vendetta. So far, these lawsuits have gone nowhere.

Three years after it began its criminal investigation of Donald Trumps Trump Organization and its executives, the Manhattan District Attorneys Office is reportedly expected to charge the ex-presidents company and its chief financial officer, Allen Weisselberg, with tax-related crimes on Thursday, according TheWall Street Journal. Obviously this marks a major escalation of the probe, and Trump will presumably respond to the news by lashing out like a man increasingly concerned that prison may be in his future.
According to the Journal, Weisselberg and the company are expected to be hit with charges related to allegedly avoiding paying taxes on fringe benefits. For months Cyrus Vance Jr.s office has been investigating whether the perks the CFO was awarded, including cars, corporate apartments, and private school tuition, were a way of evading money owed to the IRS. In addition to reportedly obtaining Weisselbergs personal tax returns, the D.A.s office scored a trove of financial documents from his ex-daughter-in-law, Jennifer Weisselberg, whose former husband, Barry Weisselberg, is also a longtime employee of the company.

Parents at the school, as well as those who live nearby, have been in a dither since the First Family announced Melania and Barron Trump would remain in New York so the child could complete the school year.
One frantic parent at the school told Vanity Fair that she was worried about some type of Mexican multi-car street abduction.

Secret Service, traffic congestion and overall concerns about security are worrisome to parents, according to the relative who spoke to Heavy.
TMZ reported in January that to mitigate traffic congestion, the NYPD would be working with the Secret Service to block and re-open streets as soon as Barrons convoy passed. For security purposes, the childs route to school will be regularly altered.

She shared that Barron is not on social media and that he is “all into sports.”
That said, in the lead up to Super Bowl Sunday, President Trump said he’d have “a hard time” with letting his son play football. “I just don’t like the reports that I see coming out having to do with football,” President Trump said.
“I thought the equipment would get better, and it has. The helmets have gotten far better but it hasn’t solved the problem.”

Wright Has Offered Support To Vaccine Skeptics
Much like the charity he founded, Bob Wright has publicly flirted with vaccine skepticism. In 2008, for example, Wright told The Telegraph: “The last vaccine Christian had before he regressed was MMR that’s why my daughter concentrates on that. I don’t know whether his autism is linked. It was certainly coincidental. What we don’t know is if it was causal. Nor do we know whether the thimerosal is a factor, although mercury is clearly poisonous. Governments want to run from that issue, but they should become more aggressively involved.”
Wright has supported counseling parents concerned about vaccines to spread out injections over a longer period. His 2016 memoir, “The Wright Stuff,” reproduces an email he sent to the leaders of Autism Speaks in September 2015, after the organization released a statement that denied a link between vaccines and autism as a response to .
“This point of view is unnecessarily argumentative,” Wright wrote. “Trump said it a lot better. We support vaccines, but if parents have concerns, spread out the shots.” During the debate, Trump said he saw a 2-year-old child develop symptoms of autism after receiving several vaccines at the same time and argued that spacing out them out would contain the growing rate of new autism diagnoses.
At the time, journalists took this statement as a reversal of his earlier skepticism. But Trump’s statements about vaccines and autism have always alleged that multiple simultaneous doses are dangerous.

Trump And Wright Remain In Touch
It may be impossible to definitively prove that Trump acquired his beliefs about vaccines and autism from Wright. Indeed, one of the chief lessons of the past three years of political journalism is that it can be futile to impute rational intention onto the operation of Trump’s mind. But the evidence pointing to Wright is strong, and much more compelling than the theories pointing to Barron.
What is clear, though, is that Trump and Wright remain in touch. When Trump decided to celebrate World Autism Day in 2017 by shining a blue light on the White House, the press secretary at the time, Sean Spicer, told reporters the idea came from a “longtime friend of the president,” Bob Wright.
And in September, The Washington Post reported that Wright had personally lobbied the Trump administration with an untested proposal to contain gun violence by monitoring people with mental illnesses for certain behavioral changes associated with violence.
“Bob does not have anything to add to the public comments he has made in the past,” said Wright’s spokeswoman, Liz Feld, the president of the Suzanne Wright Foundation. “He would never discuss any private conversations he has had with the president.”

Columbia Grammar & Preparatory Has A Rigorous Admissions Process
In 2015, Business Insider included Columbia Grammar and Preparatory in its list of the nine most elite prep schools in New York City, alongside The Dalton School, Horace Mann School, and the all-girls Chapin School, where Barrons half-sister Ivanka Trump went until leaving for boarding school at Connecticuts esteemed Choate Rosemary Hall. .

He’s at it again. Last spring, Donald Trump used his television and pop culture celebrity to push a dead issue on whether the President of the United States, Barack H. Obama, was indeed a U.S. citizen. That campaign ended with the release of the President’s long form birth certificate and Mr. Trump announcing how “very proud of himself” he was.
The campaign, although doomed to fail from the start, raised Mr. Trump’s status amongst a small, but vocal few in the right-wing of our political landscape, and perhaps most frighteningly, actually propelled him to the front of the G.O.P presidential nominee field for ever a brief moment.
But this was Donald Trump. There was no way such fabricated “legitimacy” could last, and he promptly faded away, leaving the Republican nominee race to much more serious and stable candidates, like misogynistic pizza barons and wife-jumping “historians.”
Well, it’s spring once again and that means it’s time for Mr. Trump to hitch his wagon to another lost cause, simultaneously moving an entire conversation backwards all in the name of propelling his own fame forward. Apparently it was time to once again link vaccines to autism.
After being widely criticized for their interpretations and in the face of much larger studies , finding NO link between MMR vaccinations and autism, 10 of the original 13 authors on that 1998 paper published a retraction of interpretation in 2004.
