Nowadays, most parents are very cautious about how they handle their children in public. In years past, a swat to the backside or a pop on the mouth was no big deal. In fact, this treatment was the standard. If we go even further back in time, children were treated much differently and often more harshly than we’d like to imagine.
Still, parents in this century are cautious. Not Kate Gosselin. She has no qualms about smacking her kids or spanking them in public. Of course, what is public to you and me is not the same as what’s public to Kate. EVERYTHING is public when you’re a reality TV star.
If you watch the show, you have probably already been exposed to her putting her hands on her kids – Collin especially.
He Got Expelled As A Toddler
We all know that kids can be quite the handful. Let’s just keep it real here and admit that they can be little devils! This young age is not called “terrible twos” for no reason at all and news flash, the behavior doesn’t always magically disappear on their third birthday.
While no parent wants to confess that their kids are trouble makers, we parents all deal with bad choices made by our children at one point or another.
Apparently Kate was incredibly ashamed that her two little ones got kicked out of their school. Both Alexis and Collin were expelled from the ritzy Pennsylvania school in which they were enrolled. She finally admitted five years later that the school wasn’t “meeting their needs” and decided to tutor them at home.
What’s Wrong With Collin Gosselin
In June 2017, Collin wrote a letter to his father from the special needs institution, begging Jon to allow him to stay with him. I told Mom I want to live with you, she said no. But right? She cant choose for me. Im old enough now, Im YOUR son, not hers,” Collin wrote to his dad at the time. “She was abusive to me after I left your house. Im sorry. Take this to court because … youre my dad, my savior.”
Jon was ultimately awarded full custody of Collin in 2018 when Kate failed to appear in court another of the sextuplets, Hannah, also lives with her father. In September 2019, Jon opened up about the alleged abuse his eight children endured while living with their mom.
“I know my children have suffered abuse and I know one day theyre going to tell their own story, Jon told the Daily Mail at the time. And sadly enough, I know what PTSD is. Its really upsetting.”
Jon explained that Collin was sent to the educational facility because of behavioral problems related to ADHD. He also alleged that Collin was in a “cage” for three years, and that Kate only visited him on three occasions during this time.

He Has An Unspecified Diagnosis Of Special Needs
Kate revealed that Collin has special needs, though she didn’t go into details. ” a fairly fluid diagnosis of what those needs are, but he needs to learn certain strategies to help him deal with things,” she said.
She went on to say that she didn’t make this public or seek outside help, despite his issues affecting the whole family: “This has been a struggle we’ve had for a very long time, and it’s one I’ve dealt with on my own. I’ve felt very alone in this. By the same token, it’s not something that has only impacted me or him… our entire family has been impacted.”

Collin Gosselin Was Mysteriously Sent Away In 2016
Kate decided the chaos of being on a reality show was too much for Collin but didn’t pull the plug on the show. Instead, she sent him to an unnamed facility where his needs could be addressed away from the cameras and the family.
A friend of the Gosselins said the change was good for Collin adding, “Now it seems that Collin is flourishing and hes responding very well to one-on-one instruction. He definitely finds it easier to function and cope better without all the chaos that his home life entails.

Where Is Collin Gosselin New Details About Kate And Jon’s ‘troubled’ Son
America met the Gosselin family in 2007 when their first TV special called Surviving Sextuplets and Twins aired. The show led to a reality show called Jon and Kate Plus 8.
The show was a success, but the Gosselin marriage wasn’t, ending in divorce in 2009. TLC kept the series going for several more years under the name Kate Plus 8, while Jon Gosselin achieved tabloid notoriety for his antics. Kate and the kids took a TV hiatus for a few years, but came back to TLC for several more season of Kate Plus 8 starting in 2014.
But by 2016, it wasn’t really Kate Plus 8 anymore. One of the sextuplets, Collin, had moved away from the family to live in a residential facility to manage what Kate Gosselin called “special needs.”

It Bugs Kate She Can’t Control Him
Like mentioned before, Kate like things handled in a very specific way. If things are not done according to Kate-law then she throws a fit. While her little…er, big fits are great for TV ratings and magazine covers, they aren’t so great for building self-confidence in children.
Kate has figured out a way to control most of her kids most of the time. I mean, the recent TV appearance with her twins daughters sort of backfired in her face when they didn’t perform as she wanted. For the most part, she gets her way when it comes to her children.
She’s admitted that Collin has frustrated her the most. Perhaps her frustration is because she can’t always figure out the best way to help him. Who knows? From the outside looking in it really just appears that it bugs her that she can’t control him like she can the rest of his siblings.
Kate Keeps The Truth Well Hidden
As a lot of critics and fans know already that Kate Gosselin is a complicated person. Shes also a person who is obsessed with her own image and obsessed with controlling everything that goes on around her. Thats why a lot of people say she kicked Jon Gosselin to the curb, simply because she couldnt control him or his actions any longer. The ironic thing about Kate Gosselin is that she is a known reality television star, with the key word there being reality.
Yet nothing about Kates life seems to be realistic. Instead, every move she makes is rather well scripted, if not hidden from plain view.

Since January 2017, which is when People published the article about Kate and Collin, fans have been wondering what Collins special needs entail. And it seems we may have some answers by way of Jon. In Touch Weekly reportsJon posted a photo over the holidays with him, daughter Hannah, and Collin, and one fan was bold enough to ask the question, Id love to know if he actually has special needs, or if he just didnt deal Kates BS like we all suspect.
To that, Jon gave his answer. The dad said, he is not on any spectrum or special needs.
Sibling Duo Celebrate Entering 11th Grade
Jon Gosselin joined the parage of celebrities celebrating the first day of school by sharing a rare photo of Collin and Hannah. According to the caption, his children were very nearly done with high school as they entered 11th grade today.

In the comments, TLC fans were shaken to see how much Hannah and Collin had grown. They could hardly believe they were entering 11th grade this year. As fans know, Hannah and Collin are part of the Gosselin Sextuplets. One fan noted they were so happy the kids were living with dad. Some fans, however, clarified Hannah and Collin were the only two of the sextuplets living with their father. They noted the rest of the sextuplets were brainwashed by mom.
Unfortunately for gans of the Gosselin family, it has been years since Kate posted photos of her children. Likewise, it has been over a year since she posted anything on Instagram.
Now, their daughter Mady Gosselin does post on her own from time to time. And, shes even more active on her TikTok account. In fact, its only been three weeks since the last time she posted on Instagram.

Collin Gosselin Sent Away Without Jon’s Knowledge
The biggest scandal, in my opinion, happened when Kate decided to send away one of the sextuplets, Collin, because of “behavioral” issues.
“This is a work in progress for him that we’ve sought many specialists help on,” Kate confessed on an episode of Kate Plus 8. “There are changes coming for him. I think it will result in a change of school for him for this upcoming year and beyond that, we’ll see.”
Kate has never admitted what the diagnosis is, just saying that it’s been a struggle.

“Kate doesn’t want Collin on camera very much because all the stimulation can be difficult for him,” a source close to the Gosselins said. “Kate decided to send him to a facility because she thought it was best for him. Now it seems that Collin is flourishing, and he’s responding very well to one-on-one instruction. He definitely finds it easier to function and cope better without all the chaos that his home life entails.”
Jon Denies The Allegations
Jon’s representative said, “Jon has never abused Collin. No charges have been filed against him and there’s no ongoing CYS investigation. Collin has endured severe trauma. Jon is a loving father who has worked hard to ensure that his son gets the support and help he needs.”
The Pennsylvania Child & Youth Services opened an investigation, but they did not list Jon as the alleged abuser in the case.
The District Attorney John Adams is assigned to the case and said, “There has been no charges or citations filed as a result of that incident.”
As of right now, Jon has not been officially cited for allegedly assaulting his son.

Collin Gosselin Says Hes ‘doing Better Than Ever’ Living With Dad Jon
Collin Gosselin took to Instagram on Sunday to give his followers an update. In addition to showing off a new haircut, the 16-year-old former reality TV star with dad Jon Gosselin.

Collin has been living with his dad full time, along with sextuplet sister Hannah Gosselin, for the past few years. Before living with his father, Collin was in his mother Kate Gosselin‘s custody and attended Fairmont Behavioral Health Institute. Jon removed Collin from the school after a letter reportedly written by his son was obtained and published by Daily MailTV. I told Mom I want to live with you, she said no. But right? In December 2018, Jon was awarded sole legal and physical custody of Collin after Kate and her lawyer did not show up in court. Kate has full legal custody and shared physical custody of the rest of their sextuplets Collin, Hannah, Leah, Alexis, Joel and Aaden, and twins Cara and Mady.
She Won’t Tell What’s Wrong With Him
As you may know, there is a name for just about every problem, syndrome, or hang nail out there. One of the issues that people have in terms of Collin’s “problem” is that Kate consistently leaves it unnamed.
Maybe it’s that she truly doesn’t know or that she doesn’t want to divulge that bit of information just yet. Who knows? The only thing that she’s said is that he has both “social and educational” problems.
She has described him in social situations where he can’t always express himself the way that he wants. He tends to get frustrated and act out in anger. Where does it all stem from, though? Jon and Kate’s divorce didn’t cause this because she claims to have known about it for much longer than that.
