Traditions Of The Day

National Autistic Society: Thanking Day 2019

World Autism Awareness Day celebrates the resilience of those affected by the disorder and supports causes that promote awareness of it. Children in schools are educated about autism and encouraged to be accepting of it. As autistic children are subjected to bullying, it is very important for their peers to be tolerant and inclusive of them. The signs of autism are at times not so prevalent, which is why adults are also educated on this matter. Local businesses and shopping centers are also big on autism awareness, and a portion of their sales go towards autism causes and organizations.;

World Autism Awareness Day: History

The United Nations General Assembly unanimously declared 2 April as World Autism Awareness Day to highlight the need to help improve the quality of life of those with autism so they can lead full and meaningful lives as an integral part of society. In 2008, the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities entered into force, reaffirming the fundamental principle of universal human rights for all.

Autism is a lifelong neurological condition that manifests during early childhood, irrespective of gender, race, or socioeconomic status. The term Autism Spectrum refers to a range of characteristics.

International Autism Day Facts

All in all, the question What is the date of National Autism Day 2021? needs more clarifications and explanations. First of all, we would like to mention, that it is not an official date, and it simultaneously means that we should go working or studying on April 2nd annually. The only exception is when it turns to be the weekend, of course.

The international holiday was established in order to inform the public that people with this problem illness simply need help in treatment and interaction with society. Autism is not an infectious disease, so it is absolutely safe to communicate with such men and women.

People sometimes face such a disease, which is considered a brain disease. But considering that the brain is the basis of our body, hitting it, the disease leads to the problematic work of most internal organs. This problem also affects the socialization of a person, his/her behavior.

This defect can be genetic, so sometimes it is necessary to remind the population of all countries about preventive actions, about a healthy lifestyle and in case of manifestation of the first signs appeal to specialists.

For this purpose, a day was created to disseminate information about the problem of autism.

Every April we celebrate World Autism Awareness Month!; But thats not all; this year on 2 April, the eleventh World Autism Awareness Day will celebrated!

Its difficult to pinpoint an autism definition.; The condition varies in how severely it affects peoples lives.; To them the world;is a mass of people, places and events which they struggle to make sense of, and which can cause them considerable anxiety.

While to most people interacting with other people comes naturally, it can be confusing and sometimes frustrating for those who are autistic. ;For example, jokes and tone of voice can be misinterpreted.

This can sometimes make people seem insensitive, especially as they are unable to gage how a person is feeling, and the usual give-and-take manner of a conversation misunderstood.

And, while there is currently no cure, it is important that autism is diagnosed so that the proper services and support are available to help suffers and their families.

Autism doesnt have to be limiting.; Just look at singer Ladyhawke and Daryl Hannah they are both autistic and have made a great success of their lives.

So what can do this April?; A really simple way of getting involved is to become a fan of the World Autism Awareness Day facebook page.; And, you can put on the puzzle, the autism awareness ribbon, which was adopted in 1999 as the universal sign of awareness.

If you decide to get involved, remember to post your events on the World Autism Awareness Day Facebook page.

Current Canadian Autism Policy: Designed For Failure

Using the same playbook as the ;WE scandal, Canadas leadership currently allocates hundreds of million$ for autism programs with:

  • No competitive bidding process/RFPs
  • No vetting of the agencies receiving the funds
  • No study to determine whether the service is needed
  • No independent standards and practices to measure efficacy or outcomes

  • Another $10 million was given to the PAFN to use for mini-grants to itself, to the Miriam Foundation and 4 other non-profits to set up information hubs in existing autism service centresand no other information about what the $10 million hubs are has ever been made available to the public.

  • Poverty and underhousing are a human rights issue for autistic Canadians.

International Day Of Prayer For Autism Spectrum Disorders

Churches of all denominations around the world now honor the millions of people with autism on Autism Sunday, the International Day of Prayer for autism spectrum disorders. Organisers estimate there are 60 million people with autism around the world. Campaigners have said that many suffer without proper public services in education, health, specialist speech therapy and respite care in several parts of the world, particularly in Africa and Asia. The credit crunch and the global recession which hit many countries in 2008-2009 also affected the Autism Community. In the UK, people were concerned about the cuts to disability benefits and cuts to public services. Homes were re-possessed during the economic downturn and some families below the poverty line had to choose between heating and eating.

World church leaders have been supporting Autism Sunday. Pope Benedict XVI told the organisers that he would be praying for the autism community on Autism Sunday. Some of the largest churches in the United States, including Rick Warren‘s Saddleback Church, have pledged to pray for over 60 million people with autism spectrum disorders on Autism Sunday. Support came from the Bishop of London in the United Kingdom, Rt.Rev.Richard Chartres.

Campaigners around the world organized an Autism Sunday Storm to mark Autism Sunday 2011 – to celebrate the lives of all people with autism.

Advocates Want Party Leaders To Commit To National Autism Plan

While most federal party leaders say theyre in favour of creating a national autism strategy which the autism community has been demanding for years advocates say any plans the parties have lack detail.

If were putting in a report card for the federal , it would be a C, said Margaret Spoelstra, executive director of Autism Ontario.

Her group is part of the Provincial-Territorial Autism Network, which asked all major parties to say by Aug. 31 whether theyd commit to investing in the necessary development of a National Autism Strategy, and provide a concrete timeline to have this strategy implemented by 2023.

As far as Spoelstra knows, only the Conservatives responded to the network by the deadline. And while she finds it encouraging that other parties have mentioned funding for autism, she wants more information.

What does that mean? Lets hear some of the details.

QP Briefing also asked the parties if theyd commit to a strategy, and only the Conservatives promised to implement one by 2023.

A Conservative government would prioritize this important initiative, and ensure that autistic Canadians receive the support they need and deserve in a reasonable timeframe, the party stated, adding that a strategy should reflect the real, lived experience of autistic Canadians, and address the diverse set of needs seen in the autism community.

Both Brandt and Spoelstra said autism isnt getting as much attention as theyd like in this campaign.

What is World Autism Day?

Every year since 2008, United Nations member states have been encouraged to observe World Autism Awareness Day in order to raise awareness of autism and aspergers syndrome around the world.

What is autism?

The National Autistic Society explains that, Autism is a lifelong disability which affects how people communicate and interact with the world. There are approximately 700,000 autistic adults and children in the UK.

Autism is a spectrum condition. All autistic people share certain difficulties, but being autistic will affect them in different ways.

Some autistic people also have learning disabilities, mental health issues or other conditions, meaning people need different levels of support. All people on the autism spectrum learn and develop.

The National Autism Strategy: The Same Failed Policy Under A New Name

CASDA, a partner of the charity Autism $peaks, is the lead lobbyist for the National Autism Strategy. Some conflicts of interest:

  • The Vice Chair of the Executive Board for CASDA is also the President of Autism Speaks Canada.
  • Autism Speaks is a Capital Lead Partner at PAFN and a Collaborator of CASDA.
  • CASDAs national autism needs study was very small and only 2.4 percent of the participants in the survey were even autistic.
  • The consortium of Autism Speaks, PAFN & CASDA seek to monopolize federal autism funding. They represents their business interests only.
  • Autism $peaks, which has promoted antivaccine views for years and still actively supports eugenics, is viewed as a HATE GROUP by most autistic people.
