  • What Is Mert Treatment

MeRT stands for Magnetic e-Resonance Therapy. It is a step ahead of treatment. MeRT treatment balance and stimulate brain function with the help of a magnetic field.

Autism is the brain working differently. So it is not an illness but some autistic people need help to live a normal life. But it is a spectrum where everyone with autism is different. Some autistic people need little to no external help while some people need to take care of them every day. That is why personalized treatment for autism is important.

MeRT treatment is working better as personalized treatment. Brain communication must be organized and in sync. MeRT protocols are made to optimize brain communication. But it changed to fit each child. The starting point varies with the position of the patient in the spectrum.

How To Find Out If Mert Is The Right Treatment For Your Child

    Hear It From The Parents

We are dropping a line to thank you for your help last summer with Immanuel. My wife and I are RVing this weekend and marveling at how well Immanuel now socializes with other children at the campsite. We were here last year around the same time and he needed constant play supervision because he kept arguing & trying to control play. This weekend hes able to go along with what others are playing.

He is also at a private school with no special ed teacher to support him, and he is able to succeed without the extra support. Its a small classroom, but last year it would have been impossible. Immanuel has made such strides socially, with nonverbal cues, being flexible, and regulating his frustrations.

His occupational therapist has been amazed, as well. She evaluated him before he started treatment with you but started therapy AFTER we returned from Texas. She says that he has been crushing the prescribed program he scored significantly above expectations at the latest eval. and hes is speeding through the stages. Immanuels progress and the fact that he can play with other kids thrills ushes had numerous play dates at our house and theyve gone well. This touches our hearts more than anythingthat he has friends now.

Again, thank you for making this treatment available and for your guiding us through the process. We looked forward to the summer. David and Debbie J.

    Common Autism Signs And Symptoms

    • Doesnt appear to understand or hear when being spoken to
    • Seems disconnected from the outside world
    • Has no verbal skills
    • Rocks back and forth or performs other repetitive movements
    • Exhibits self-harming behaviors such as hitting, biting, or head banging
    • Has a heightened sensitivity to light and sound
    • Can be highly intelligent, but has an inability to make human connections or feel empathy

Children on the mild end of the autism spectrum have a better chance of becoming more engaged in relationships with others. They also have fewer behavioral disturbances. Aspergers Syndrome, for example, falls at the mild end of the spectrum.

Those on the moderate to severe end of the spectrum will have problems with communication and social skills. The teenage years can also bring increased issues stemming from behavior and hormonal changes during this time.

    But there is hope.

Receiving a diagnosis of autism can be overwhelming, but early intervention can be critical to your childs development. Kids dont usually grow out of autism, but they can improve function and quality of life.

MeRT, or Magnetic e-Resonance Therapy, is a high-tech treatment that combines:

    • Electrocardiogram

to analyze and formulate treatments tailored to each patients unique brain pattern.

MeRT evolved from TMS, which was more of a generalized approach for the treatment of autism because it was only able to target a single location in the brain with one frequency. Conversely, MeRT is customized to each individual based on the results of their EEG and tailored to the patients needs as to frequency, location, and the power used.

MeRT is not currently FDA cleared for autism and is considered off-label. However, studies have shown that for many children, it can be instrumental in helping develop skills to function more normally.

MeRT is a well-tolerated and highly effective treatment approach to symptom relief for those with autism spectrum disorder. MeRT combines rTMS, an FDA-cleared treatment, with qEEG and EKG recordings to individualize treatments to each unique brain pattern. MeRT nurtures the brain for stability and synchrony to achieve superior developmental outcomes for the children and families we serve.

Patients with developmental differences will often have signature EEG wave activity appearing in the frontal portion of their brain. Their brainwaves are dominated by a mix of slow and high frequency behavior, whereas a neurotypical patient would have dominant alpha waves.

During MeRT cortical treatment, patients recline in a treatment chair. A TMS magnet is positioned over the patients head to deliver a tailored protocol of gentle magnetic pulses to specific areas of the brain. Patients report that the pulses feel like taps on the head. Each treatment session lasts about 30 to 40 minutes, after which patients can immediately return back to their daily routines.

Overall, patients tolerate MeRT treatment very well. The most commonly reported side effect is mild scalp discomfort or mild headache during stimulation, which responds well to over-the-counter analgesics.

Mert: Does This Noninvasive Therapy Offer Another Ray Of Hope For Autism

A new therapy known by the acronym MeRT may help relieve some behaviors displayed by children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder . MeRT therapy may be a viable option for you and your child if you are coping with challenges associated with those typical of the autism spectrum. One caveat: MeRT does not help every child, but you will probably know within the first couple of weeks if it is going to help yours.

Magnetic e-Resonance Therapy, also known as MeRT, is drug-free, noninvasive and painless. Safely altering your childs brainwaves in a highly individualized fashion sets the stage for proper, healthy brain communication. This is important, because it can result in significant clinical improvements in children with ASD: anxiety abates, language skills blossom and social interaction improves.

Why We Treat Autism With Mert

    What Is MeRT?

Dr. Joseph Radawi, MD, practiced emergency medicine for more than 10 years before moving into functional medicine. He saw first-hand the impact that chronic conditions, including many mental and neurological conditions, were having on people in his community and wanted to help.

He found that while traditional medicine is great for acute care, such as injuries and emergencies, it doesnt have good enough answers when it comes to chronic, life altering conditions. MeRT Treatment is a breakthrough approach that treats the neurons of the brain, rather than just the symptoms, to restore brain health for the long-term. Over the years Dr. Radawi has realized that altered mental and brain health is a limiting factor in obtaining optimal health even when following other functional medicine lifestyle recommendations. This is why he is so excited to introduce this innovative treatment in East Tennessee.

Dr. Radawi has completed advanced clinical training in functional medicine and MeRT treatment and has helped many patients address the root causes of their problems and step into a new world of possibilities. Are you ready to take control and restore your brain health?

In a double-blind randomized controlled trial, 66% of individuals with verbal and non-verbal communication difficulties experienced improvement. In the same trial, 70% of individuals with difficulty maintaining eye contact saw improved eye contact behaviors.

Cognitive performance can decrease over time due to many reasons such as age. It may feel weak both physically and mentally. An easy way to find out whether your cognitive performance declined is by checking for the below symptoms.

    • Hard to concentrate
    • Improved self-confidence
    • Elevated sports/athletic performance

Brains are like fingerprints. No one has a brain that works like you. dysfunction or communication problems in your brain are also unique. That is why a personalized treatment like MeRT is one of the best therapy to increase cognitive performance.

Treatments contain 45-minute appointments and 2-week assessment periods. The assessment period is important because doctors can confirm how treatments affected you. It is slightly different from treatment for an autistic child. MeRT treatment is not a painful one. The patient only has to do is sit in a chair.

Mert For Asd Treatment And Brain Health

Autism Spectrum Disorder impacts our perception of the external environment and social interactions. Social relationships, communication abilities, academic performance, and the capacity for autonomy may all suffer as a result. People with ASD may also learn and move differently than others. They may exhibit improper behavior in response to normal situations. Symptoms and their intensity can vary from one person to another, which determines where they are on the spectrum.

One may start to show symptoms as early as infancy. Others exhibit symptoms at a later time. The moment your child show symptoms affecting his development, immediately head to a brain treatment center in Worthington, Ohio. While a person with ASD wont outgrow their condition, a brain evaluation and therapy can help them function well. Several treatments can assist your child. If you are looking for a non-invasive one, MeRT is a perfect choice.

MeRT stands for Magnetic Electroencephalogram/Electrocardiogram Resonance Treatment. In simple words, it is a therapy designed to restore ones brains health which begins by identifying where the brain is having difficulty communicating. It then measures, analyzes, and designs a therapy that is based on the findings of the treatment. Thus, the therapy becomes personalized and need-based. It is perfect for children as it is pain-free, non-invasive, and relaxing.

How Long Does Mert Treatment Last

One session of MeRT takes 45 minutes approximately. Since MeRT is a personalized treatment, these numbers are not fixed. Normally an appointment contains 30 electromagnetic stimulation trains. A stimulation takes 6 seconds to deliver. Then there is a 54 seconds rest before the next train on another specific location on the brain.

Longer the therapy session, the longer the effects of MeRT treatment stay. If it is longer than a month effects will stay for a long time. In Frankies case, he only stayed in California for a month when he spoke the first sentence. Doctors said he will develop his verbal communication skills even without further MeRT treatments. Slowly but it will happen.

Unfortunately, there are very few and largely ineffective, treatment interventions of any kind available, today, to treat Autism. There are no medications available that are specifically designed to treat Autism.

TMS has proven to be demonstrably effective in minimizing the symptoms of Autism, in ways that other interventions have not been able to do. Our San Diego Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Center offers TMS Therapy for Autism.

    How Mert Helps With Autism

MeRT is a relatively new treatment method for neurological disorders like autism. Yet, this treatment is very well-suited to helping children with autism. Because people with autism tend to have different brain activity and unusual brainwaves, the best way to improve their condition is to heal the brain.

This customized Magnetic Resonance Therapy gets to the source of the issue of decreased neural firing and connectivity. Unlike MeRT, some treatments exclusively address developmental problems from the outside, demanding or trying to coax autistic individuals to change their behaviors themselves. MeRT is different in that it creates positive changes in the brain. These improvements in connectivity make appropriate communication and behavior come easier and more naturally to those with autism.

    Miriam And Raquels Story

    Doç.Dr.Mert Mahsuni Sevinç

She looked me in the eye, grabbed my shoulders and gasped, then hugged me Then she pulled away and looked at me, gasped again, and kissed me. Ill never forget that moment as long as I live.

Raquel had been diagnosed with severe autism at the age of one and a half.

She didnt follow directions. Didnt want to be touched. She didnt speak, listen, or respond to her name. Didnt look into her mothers eyes. She had no emotional connection to her mother, father, even her twin sister.

Raquels mother, Miriam, spent the next three years searching desperately for anything that could improve Raquels quality of life. She tried several forms of therapyphonoaudiology, occupational therapy, behavioral therapy, and sensory integration. She changed Raquels diet, so it was free of gluten and casein.

All these efforts helped Raquel show small signs of improvement, but not anything significant. At four and a half years old, doctors still gave Raquel the diagnosis of severe autism.

Life was completely miserable, Miriam said. Raquel suffered from extremely high anxiety. We couldnt go to a mall or a restaurant or the movies. We couldnt even drive with her in the car without the panic attacks and the screaming. My daughter lived in her own little world, and we werent a part of it.
