Light It Up Blue Autism Awareness Walk 2017
On Sunday, April 2, 2017, the Step by Step Foundation under the Patronage of Her Excellency, First Lady of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana, Sandra M. Granger in collaboration with Republic Bank hosted the second annual Light It Up Blue! Autism Awareness Walk.
Scores of persons participated in the Walk including Her Excellency Sandra M. Granger, a Minister of Government, Staff of various Ministries, Staff and Students of the Step by Step Foundation Senior Management and Staff of Republic Bank as well as individuals and company representatives.
This event sought to provide awareness and give a voice for Autism in Guyana. It also helped to raise funds for the Step by Step Foundation.
The Light it Up Blue Awareness Walk to date has raised $1, 000,000: with t-shirt sales continuing and donations still being received for the work of the Step by Step Foundation as they continue to help change the lives of those affected by Autism, through the Step by Step School. The total funds raised will be donated to the Step by Step Foundation by the end of April 2017.
The Walk ended in the Promenade Gardens and was followed by a brief programme with Remarks from the First Lady, the Step by Step Foundation and Republic Bank. The event wrapped up with a zumba session and free basic health tests provided by representatives of the Ministry of Public Health.
The generous support of participants will help a number of individuals and their families living with Autism daily.
Autism Speaks Canada Walk 2017 The Slp Connection
In the spirit of advocacy and support for individuals with a variety of communication abilities, students in the Year 1 Speech-Language Pathology class put their minds together, getting involved in an event that is dear to their hearts. On Sunday, June 4th, 2017, the team made their way to Nathan Phillips Square, in the heart of Toronto, to walk alongside families, sponsors, and service providers to celebrate and support the Autism Spectrum Disorder community.
The Autism Speaks Canada Walk event fundraises annually to support research, services, collaboration, and awareness. Taking place in more than 100 cities across North America, the Walks provide an incredible opportunity for the ASD community to come together, make connections, and feel the support of donors, sponsors, local media, and community partners.
Team captain Jenna Haji says she was inspired to participate in the cause after having completed her first clinical placement. She worked with individuals on the Spectrum ranging from toddlers to young adults, learning that each person is much more than their diagnosis- talented and unique in their own way.
The organization urges that with 1 in 68 children being diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder, and a growing number of adults with autism living with limited support, the need to find the missing pieces of the autism puzzle is greater than ever.

Emirates Walk For Autism 2017 To Be Held In April 22
Dr. Nahida A Abdulkadir, founder of The Emirates Walk For Autism has announced April 22nd as the date for the Emirates Walk for Autism which will be held in Zabeel Park, Dubai, to raise awareness for autism in the UAE. Participants will include special needs, media and local stakeholders keen to support the awareness walk with their staff and family.
Together with the Red Crescent, and within the framework of Sustainable Developments, Emirates Walk for Autism aims to raise awareness about autism and encourage building and upgrading of education facilities and provide effective learning environments for all ages.
The National Autism Awareness campaigns are held globally in April to also help fund research and more importantly, educate the public about the disorder and its effects on the family and society in general. According to Dr. Nahida, the emotional and educational needs for autistic children places immense financial and strain on affected families.
“The Emirates Walk for Autism helps families become more aware of autism, get assistance from specialist schools and medical professionals. Bringing all stakeholders together helps families get connected with other parents who are going through similar challenges,” she said.
“Educating the public about autism is important as one in 10 families in UAE are affected by autism and society needs to be more supportive and understanding of the difficulty autistic children face during their daily life,” added Dr. Nahida.
Autism Walk 2017 Oaks Park
I had a fun day today. I went to an Autism Walk that I signed up for through work. It was at Oaks Amusement Park in Portland Oregon. It was for the Autism Society of Oregon. It was super nerve racking though because I was there, by myself. Even though I saw some co-workers I was more or less on my own.
Afterwards I did spend the day there since it has been years since Ive gone, and I new I probably wouldnt be back. It wasnt as fun going on rides on my own, but I still had fun. Below are the pictures that I took.

Behavioral Health Works Joins The 2017 Autism Speaks Walk For The Greater Boston Area
We are one week away from one of the largest autism awareness walks in the Greater Boston Area. On Sunday, October 15th Behavioral Health Works will be at the 2017 Greater Boston Autism Speaks Walk. It is an amazing annual event thats filled with resources, tools and tips from various organizations and lots of fun activities that are geared towards both parents and children who are affected by autism. This years event will take place at the Boston Common in Boston, MA. Registration starts at 9:00 AM and the event concludes at 12:00pm. Woman Organizes Autism Walk Raises $10000 For Trc
As a professional pastry chef, Dory Matwijkow likely would appreciate these ingredients for a successful fund-raising event:

- Strong passion for a cause
- Deep commitment to making a project succeed
- Dozens of family members and friends who want to support you
Dory combined these ingredients into her own recipe and baked up a tremendously successful fund-raising walk, doubling the amount of money she thought she would collect and earning rave reviews for her creation.
Dory has a son named Austin who has autism and lives in a home in Jamestown that is operated by The Resource Center. Each September, The Resource Center and Filling the Gap, Inc., hold an event called Step Up for Autism. Dory, some family members and friends make the long drive from her home on Grand Island to Jamestown to take part in the event every year. Calling themselves Austins Angels, Dory and crew raise money for the event and participate in the 1.5-mile walk. Dory also puts her baking skills to use and donates some items for the Step Up for Autism sweets auction, and on two occasions one of her items has received the highest bid.
The response was overwhelming, with 70 people commenting in support of her idea and offering to help.

Autism Speaks is the worlds leading autism science and advocacy organization. Bluegrass Autism Walk 2017
The 2017 Bluegrass Autism Walk, sponsored by the Autism Society of the Bluegrass, is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 10 at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. The event is a fund-raiser to support Autism awareness and advocacy.
You can pre-register online or by mail Registration is $20 per adult, $10 per child. On-site registration will be $5 more.
T-shirts will be provided for preregistered participants while supplies last. Please pre-register by Sept. 1 at http://asbg.org/autism-walk/ to guarantee a T-shirt.

Bluegrass Autism Walk Is Canceled
Originally scheduled for October 10, 2021 at Whittaker Ball Park
The Autism Society of the Bluegrass announces the cancellation of the 2021 Bluegrass Autism Walk. Plans for a 2022 Event will be made as circumstances improve. Walker registrations and sponsorships for the event can be refunded or rolled over to the fall 2022 event. We continue to investigate virtual opportunities for other events in 2021, and will announce those at ASBG.org.

We are very sad to announce that we have voted to cancel the 2021 Bluegrass Autism Walk. Early registration and past years participation show that the Lexington community supports our cause to support the public and people with Autism through education, community, and events like these that raise awareness for the needs of all people with autism. We are grateful.
We invite the whole community to show your support for our community by practicing social distancing, taking the vaccine if you are eligible, and wearing masks to lower the rate of spread so that you, we, and our families can all be as safe as possible.
We will continue to hold our regular monthly meetings via ZOOM and Facebook Live.

St. Lawrence NYSARC is holding a walk to promote awareness of Autism Spectrum Disorders at 10 a.m. Sept. 9 at the Village Park on Main Street in Canton. Registration begins at 9 a.m.

This years theme is Disney and there will be a costume contest open to everyone with a variety of great prizes available to win.
The Autism Awareness Walk is a non-competitive walk to promote education and support services offered by St. Lawrence NYSARC for people on the autism spectrum. There is no registration fee, but walkers who raise $25 get a thank you gift and donors who give $50 or more will receive an Autism Awareness Walk t-shirt, while supplies last.

Lakeview Regional Medical Center is proud to announce it will host the SOAR 7th Annual Autism Awareness Walk and Family Day. The half-mile walk/run fundraiserWith Love We Can Soarwill take place on the Judge Tanner Blvd. campus on Saturday, April 1st from 10AM – 2PM. Proceeds from the event will benefit SOAR , the Northshores primary resource Center for families touched by autism. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the number of children presently with an autism spectrum disorder was 1 in 68, but the reality today is everyone knows someone who is affected by autism, states Bret Kolman, Chief Executive Office of Lakeview Regional Medical Center.
